Surgical Circumcision

Surgical Circumcision (Stitches Method)

A traditional circumcision technique using surgical removal of the foreskin and dissolvable stitches.

What Is the Surgical Circumcision Method?

The surgical circumcision method involves removing the foreskin through a minor surgical procedure and closing the wound with stitches.

Unlike device-based techniques such as Plastic Ring or ShangRing, the surgical method allows the doctor to directly shape the surgical site and control the final cosmetic result.

The stitches used during the procedure are dissolvable and do not need to be removed later.

When Is Surgical Circumcision Recommended?

Surgical circumcision may be recommended when:

the patient is an older child or adult
other circumcision devices are not suitable
there are medical conditions affecting the foreskin
precise surgical control is required

The doctor will determine the most appropriate circumcision method during consultation.

Before the Procedure

Before the procedure, the patient will have a consultation with the doctor to discuss the treatment and confirm suitability.

During this consultation:

the patient’s medical history is reviewed
the procedure is explained
questions about recovery and aftercare are answered

Preparation instructions may be provided before the appointment.

Benefits of Surgical Circumcision

The surgical method offers several advantages:

precise surgical control of the procedure
suitable for complex foreskin conditions
widely used and well-established technique
predictable cosmetic results

For some patients, this method provides the most appropriate treatment option.

1
Consultation and Preparation
The patient is examined and the surgical plan is explained before the procedure begins.
2
Anaesthetic
Local anaesthetic is administered to numb the area and ensure the procedure is performed comfortably.
3
Surgical Removal of the Foreskin
The foreskin is carefully removed using a sterile surgical technique.
4
Wound Closure
The surgical wound is closed using dissolvable stitches that support proper healing.
5
Post-Procedure Observation
Patients remain at the clinic for a short observation period before returning home.

The entire appointment may take around one hour for the procedure itself, although patients may spend longer at the clinic including consultation and preparation.

Recovery and Aftercare

Recovery after surgical circumcision typically takes longer than device-based methods.

Patients may experience:

mild swelling
bruising
temporary discomfort

The stitches used during the procedure will dissolve naturally during healing.

The wound generally heals over six to eight weeks, although most patients can return to normal daily activities earlier with appropriate care.

How much does it cost?

The price of circumcision can vary widely depending on the clinic and the patient. Mainly, factors for the cost of circumcision include the following:

  1. The age of the patient (infant, older child, adult men)
  2. Location of clinic

A deposit of $100 is required for confirmation, which is adjustable in the total cost of the procedure that has to be paid on the day of the procedure.
